I attended Northern Illinois University earning my Art degree with a close group of fellow art students. Professor John Rooney referred to our group as “The Inner Circle”.

About ten years after we had graduated (1989), and as a way to stay connected, one of the members, Mike Rende, challenged us to each submit 5 pages of art, all on a chosen subject.. The group’s effort would then be compiled as a collaborative book or placed on his fledgling website as a group effort. The subject matter chosen was “The Supermarket”.

At the time I was accompanying my husband on his consulting assignments in South America, mostly to Santiago, Chile. So it was quite natural for my submission to depict our surprising experiences in a neighborhood Santiago supermarket. Thus came “El Supermercado”.
